Bio

Jahaan Shah is a singer/songwriter, record producer, film music composer, guitarist, and DJ. He writes, sings, and produces music with an electronic influence, and composes original scores for films and ads. He has performed DJ sets in the capitals of electronic music: New York and Goa. His last EP More ft. katyayani has millions of streams across platforms from a global audience. It includes official remixes by India's top producer/DJs. He has composed music and the original score for the feature film Safed, slated for release in 2023. He is returning to his early influences and singer/songwriting roots which manifested in his latest single, Memory, featuring him on lead vocals, guitars, and piano. This new journey marries his years of experience in songwriting, producing, and performing electronic music and fuses them with his foundation with singing and live instrumentation, and storytelling experience from scoring films.

Music has always been the primary focus of his life. Growing up, he was influenced by his father’s music, especially his 80s new wave and alternative rock. Jahaan began his journey in music with the guitar and piano at 8 years old. He started writing songs that he performed with his band throughout middle and high school. At 16, he started producing music on his computer and began DJing as a format to present his original productions. He attended the Berklee College of Music between 2014 and 2018, where he studied production and engineering, synthesis, film scoring, music theory, and music business. After graduation, he went on to DJ and host parties at New York institutions including TBA Brooklyn, The Williamsburg Hotel, and The Soho Grand. 

Jahaan's journey with film music is influenced by his grandfather, who produced Shalimar in the 70s. Like all iconic Indian films, putting together Shalimar's music was paramount. Influenced by the importance of music in cinema, and as a stepping stone to writing music for films, Jahaan collaborated with Jugaad Motion Pictures and scored award-winning ads for brands including VW, Bumble, and Jio. He also composed the Immerso Metaverse Trailer, Immerso Logo, and Legend Studios logo music. These works led to the opportunity to direct the music and compose the original score for Safed.
