Bio
Jahaan Shah writes, sings, and produces music with an electronic influence, and composes original scores for films and ads. He is a singer/songwriter, record producer, music composer, multi-instrumentalist, and DJ. He has composed the original score and title theme for the feature film Safed, out now Zee5. He has collaborated with production companies including Jugaad Motion Pictures to score award-winning ads for brands including VW, Bumble, and Jio. As an independent artist, his last EP More ft. katyayani has millions of streams across platforms from a global audience. It includes official remixes by India's top producer/DJs. He has performed DJ sets in the capitals of electronic music: New York and Goa.
Music has always been the primary focus of his life. Growing up, he was influenced by his father’s music, especially his 80s new wave and alternative rock. His journey with film music is influenced by his grandfather, who produced Shalimar in 1978. Jahaan began his journey in music with the guitar and piano at 8 years old. He started writing songs he performed with his band throughout middle and high school. At 16, he started producing music on his computer and began DJing as a format to present his original productions. He attended the Berklee College of Music between 2014 and 2018, where he studied production and engineering, synthesis, film scoring, music theory, and music business. After graduation, he went on to DJ and host parties in New York at institutions including TBA Brooklyn, The Williamsburg Hotel, and The Soho Grand between 2019-2020.
Upon returning to India in 2020, he began composing music for ads as a stepping stone to writing music for films. He has also composed the Immerso Metaverse Trailer, Immerso Logo, and Legend Studios logo music. These works led to the opportunity to direct the music and compose the original score for Safed.
